Cosawes Park

Watch our interview with Cosawes here

Cosawes Park is a family owned 120 acre country estate in Perranarworthal, near Truro. Purchased by the Fraser family in the 1950’s, it has been trading as a successful campsite for over 50 years. The Fraser family have also developed an award winning residential retirement park at Cosawes, which accommodates approximately 120 permanent homes in addition to the holiday campsite.

With the third generation now managing the estate, Cosawes has recently seen considerable effort to improve, re-style and expand the touring and camping capabilities. Cosawes is now also the first campsite in Cornwall with super-fast wi-fi connectivity.

Boosting the business

Park Manager Rhiannon Fraser says: “Superfast broadband is a terrific boost to Cosawes Park. Our previous broadband connection was ‘superslow’ at less than 1Mbps. We are now enjoying speeds that are an incredible fifty times faster!

“This has revolutionised the amount of time it takes to uploads images to our website, as well as making it far easier to send large files. For example, previously we would have downloaded accountancy files to disk and driven them to our accountant. Now we can simply email them across at lightning speed. It is also loads faster to source supplies online and do online purchasing, saving us time and money.

New ways to reach out to customers

“Having superfast broadband has also opened our eyes to new ways of promoting ourselves to customers and we are now considering making use of video on our website for the first time.  I can at last view video online without any buffering and so now I can see how effective it could be for our own marketing activities.

“The campsite is a WiFi zone and when our broadband speeds were ‘superslow’, we would struggle to provide a decent connection once 7 or 8 people were using it. Now we have superfast, we can rely on great speeds and a reliable service, regardless of number of users online at the same time.

New opportunities

“The fact that we can offer superfast broadband is also a terrific competitive advantage and gives us a real edge.

“Superfast has also brought other benefits we had not initially considered. For example, we have just carried out a security review and now we have superfast, we find we will be able to use WiFi cameras rather than hard wired security cameras throughout the estate. This means we do not have to lay cables and of course this will save us a huge amount of time as well as cutting the cost of security considerably.

Rhiannon concludes: “Superfast broadband has already opened up a whole range of new opportunities for us and we are looking forward to continuing to develop its potential over the years ahead, helping Cosawes Park stay competitive and successful for the next generation.”
