Advertees, a 30 year old company based in Blackwater, specialises in fashion and promotional screen-printing of garments for clients right across the UK.  Partner Steve Brown took over the running of the business in 2007.

Steve was keen to sign up to superfast broadband as soon as it became available in the Blackwater area in January 2011.

Steve says: “We are now experiencing download speeds of 38 Mbps.  Superfast broadband is proving to be a terrific advantage to our business.   We are still only beginning to look at exploiting its full potential.  Over time, superfast broadband will change the way the business can operate.  We are particularly interested in cloud computing, through which we will be able to take advantage of the kinds of applications previously only available to big business. 

State of the art applications

“For example, we are looking forward to accessing state of the art software to manage workflow. This will be extremely useful to us as we always have multiple complex projects on the go. We are also planning to introduce internet telephony, which is likely to bring us considerable savings, as well as explore the potential of video conferencing.  As 90% of our clients are outside Cornwall, this could be very useful to us as a way of communicating with our clients once the technology is more widely used.  It is fantastic to be in at the start of something so exciting.

“An immediate benefit is that we can run a virtual private network without any glitches, as the superfast broadband connection is so stable. This will make it easier for our designers to work from home, connecting in to the office network, saving travel time and increasing productivity.

“Of course, as we are in the design business, we are constantly emailing large image files and the time saving is immense. File transfers that used to take ages are now instant.  This helps make our business operations more streamlined and efficient.
